Novalis LVT – Designed with Health and Safety in Mind

In the midst of the global uncertainty and upheaval resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects, we at AVA hope to put your mind at ease about the health and safety of your AVA flooring. Americans already spend an average of 90% of our time indoors (EPA). To slow the spread of the virus and protect vulnerable populations, it has become increasingly necessary for many of us to spend even more time at home, away from public places. Because concentrations of some pollutants can be 2 to 5 times higher indoors than typical outdoor concentrations (EPA), there has been some concern about the impacts of this time indoors.

LVT and Mixed-Use Developments

Recently, our friends at Floor Trends magazine asked us about the whole topic of mixed-use developments. I immediately asked our AVA® representatives for their thoughts and added theirs to mine. The popularity of mixed-use developments really has taken off, so naturally it’s the subject of a lot of discussion in the design community.

Badges of Quality

In 1931, the concern became the use of asbestos as a building material. In 1971, it was exposure to lead paint. More recently, it has been the health effects of radon and formaldehyde gases as volatile organic compounds leaching from household materials into the air. As technology has advanced the manufacturing of materials that go into construction, so too have the concerns regarding the effects those materials can have on our health.
